Places are available each year and applicants are given a short introductory trial to ascertain their suitability for their chosen instrument. Parents are encouraged to obtain an instrument via one of the rent-to-buy schemes.
Thirty lessons are given a year, usually lasting for 30 minutes, and parents are billed privately for these.
Many children work towards taking Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams, which take place in Summer term. Some candidates may take exams at other centres at different times of the year.
